Elective music lessons on campus: is this a deal or a ripoff?

I've never had lessons. I noticed that my school (university of minnesota) offers elective music lessons(for whatever instrument you want) from TAs at a rate of 15 half hour lessons for $300... that's 20 bucks per 30 minutes. Is this expensive? Cheap? Is this a good way to go?

If the teacher is good the price isn't bad. I would make sure you can either a) sit in on a lesson for free before committing to a 15 lesson course or b) get a refund your teacher sucks.

Good luck!

Don't forget to check if it counts as a Humanities Elective.

I 1st took guitar lessons at my junior college in 84'. It was a 1 credit class and at $18/credit hour was pretty cheap for 1+ hours a week. I took it 2x while I had time in my schedule.
It was an accreditted course like any other elective not an after thought for some guy to put his own kids through college.
