Well I was going to go into that field, but then I realized I wanted to make a little more money :-/

Enjoy though. I'm sure you could get by being a teacher and whatnots.

Expect this:

Hard-Ass Instructor: "You, yes you! Put that 7 string down, and play this 4 string!"

at this point, when i noodle around with a 4 string at the GC,or play my older bass(4 string) i dont feel comfortable playing it, it feels too small, almost toy like.

kind of funny though, cause 2 years ago i hated 5 strings, and i got one right behind me :|

I had a talk with my future instructor however and i did inform him i do play 5 string bass, and i plan on purchasing a 6,to which he said that was fine and he'll teach me whatever i want to learn (is this right?)

Sounds like he may have the makings of a good instructor. 5's are really kind of standard now. What would get me is someone with a high strung 7 string who played too laterally, and also didn't seem to get the concept of the role of the bass. And was cocky about it.

Some will say they are seeking a new role. I say, walk before you run.

It really depends on the school and the program they have..

Probably playing standards and basic improv... Alot of just playing back up for horn players to learn their thing....

So much depends on the teacher though...

With any music school, I would say the most important thing is the expierience to play with as many eager musicians as you can. That's where the learning happens. You teachers can give you the knowledge, but it's up to you to apply it with a group.
