| Check the net for schools that have decent jazz programs (even if you're not a jazz player), and most of the time, you can see the staff. If they have an electric bass staff member on board, they teach. And to be honest, most places with decent arts programs include guitar and bass.
I thought the same thing as you before I went off to college, and Berklee was where I thought I had to go, but one of the nearest colleges around has a great music program that incorporates E.B, so I now go to it (University of Southern Mississippi).
Besides Berklee, I know that North Texas University has a phenomenal program. Many great players come out of there. I'm a jazz studies major and think of it more as a 'contemporary music' studies. It may be a route you want to take a look at.
