Expanding My Playing

Sign in to disble this ad
I've been playing bass for quite a few years now but I never really made any efforts to learn how to use scales or patterns in songwriting. I've been in a few bands and I would just follow the guitar player and thump root notes and never strayed away from it. Anyone have good youtube videos or sites that can help me with expanding my playing?

Also any tips on how to train my ear to learn songs, recognize key/notes, etc would be awesome

Look to your CD collection, listen to and learn music with more adventurous bass playing.
