FINALE Print Music - question

Hoping for some hints from some experienced users.

I know how to insert a chord by clicking on a note. However, how do I sustain that chord.

For example let's say we have four quarter notes in a measure. I click on the first note and enter my chord. When I play back it only plays over the first note. How do I get it to play over all four beats?

If you were using the regular version of Finale, one way to do this would be to put a whole note on another layer, put the chord on that whole note, and hide the whole note. I'm not sure if that functionality is available in Print Music.

When you playback, or save to a playback file can you shut the layer off? I mean, how do you mute the whole note?
