First Practice with the Live Band

Tonight was my first practice with the band at the synagogue with my bass guitar. I am still learning the location of the notes on the frets, which made playing the songs a little rough at first, but once I caught onto the pattern, it was a lot of fun.

The coolest part of the practice was before we started. I was warming up my fingers by playing a simple 8 bar blues pattern. The drummer joined in and we had a jam going. Then the flutist joined in, adding some melody.

Playing the with the band should help to accelerate my learning. I am very much a hands-on learner.

playing in and band = the BEST way to learn. IMHO.

don't forget to ask questions of the more experienced players.
