When I play my bass in a flamenco style, I mainly work in a triplet type feel. I play root, Higher 5th, then lower 5th, all consecutively. so if you are in key of A. I would play my first note on the E-string on the 5th fret, then on the A-string on the 7th fret, then the open E-String. Once you nail that down, you can throw in some transition notes as you switch cords.

I hope that makes sense.

learn the main riff to stanley clarkes School Days. Stanley does a lot of strumming, as does Les Claypool. I use my middle finger to do it, some use first finger, and after you get good with one you can incorporate all 4 like victor wooten does.

Flamenco strumming is baisically making a ball out of your fist and flicking your fingers going Pinky Ring Middle Index in and out with the same motion. Anchor your thumb on a pickup or the neck and just practice getting a good sound with the motion and not just making a scratchy noise.
