"Footloose" bass sound!

Footloose - Kenny Loggins - YouTube

What do I need to do to get that kind of sound? I suppose it's P bass. But he definitely switches configuration for the chorus bluesy bit, but that's not the part I'm interested in. That one has a classic sound. Everything else has that... don't know how to call it. Like you can hear the fingers attack the string, it's a very sexy sound.

i think you answered your own querry ...you're after good ole fashioned fender tone IMO

i was gonna leave it at that.....keep it ambiguous between a jazz and a p LOL ...cause i'm not totally sure ...if someone had a gun to my head i'd definately say P! but it has some nasal-ness of a jazz...

I'm 99.9% sure that Nathan East is playing a Yamaha bass on this track.

What about the switch in sound from verse to chorus? I would go as far as to say that it's a different bass.
