Found a bass instructor

I saw a posting on campus offering instruction for guitar, mandolin and bass for $25/hr. It also stated general music theory and composition could be taught as well. I got the number and am going to call and see what's up when I get the time. My question is what should I ask him before I pay for instruction? Obviously I'm going to ask how long he/she has been playing, what styles and what his/her music related experience is. What other questions might I ask? I want to make it worth my time to pay for the instruction. Even if it does seem like a good deal (I'm really not sure) $25 an hour is a lot when you are trying to get through college.
