I'm looking for a site to download free sheet music for common/popular songs. Right now I'm looking for a few specific songs but wanted to know if there were any free sites that you guys liked?

Common/popular as in really old songs that are public domain, i.e Bach, Beethoven and such?

Pure sheet music on songs of that age will not be free. Public domain songs are much older than that. http://copyright.cornell.edu/resources/publicdomain.cfm

You can normally find fake chord or perhaps lead sheets for free, but standard notation treble and bass clef - good luck. There are sites but the price will be in the $1.00 to $4.00 per song. Which is not that bad if you really want good sheet music on a specific song.

for lead sheets..

Wikifonia | lead sheets

You can transpose a song's key and download a PDF of it. You can also download the xml file and use a notation program to alter it to your taste.

Why would you think they would be free?

Milk's not free, etc.

Musician's need to eat.

You're a musician...

Well, I figured it couldn't hurt to ask. I found a few sites with the first page available as a free preview...wasn't sure if there were any others out there with more.
