You need to listen to some tunes...

James Brown for starters.

bill dickens has a book called funk bass and beyond

hal leonard's bass builder- funk bass by john leibman

if your looking for some good slap lines, id get Slap It by tony oppenheim

but a big +1 to listening to some tunes, sly and the family stone, tower of power, earth, wind and fire

funk is more of a feeling, than something you can get from a book

The books from F. R. Prestia and Anthony Vitti are quite good.
I have also been told that Muted Grooves is good but I've never used it.
The slap method of Alex Sklarevski is a must have.

Hey Jonster,

I actually have a book of yours: "Funk Fusion Bass".

It's got some really sweet grooves in it.

Check it out.
