So I'd like to cover a non-funky song, but totally redo it extra funkily. also I'd like to do the vocals on bass. Marcus Miller's cover of Come Together is a really good example:

I've been looking on iTunes top songs for ideas (I'm even thinking of Miley Cyrus' Party in the USA).
But my real question is: Are there any know ways to make a song funky? Like what can I alter to Funkify it?
