G string technique

Sign in to disble this ad
All jokes aside....

I find then when I pluck the G string I often get a twang or a weird sound and not a pure note like I do on the other strings. I can't tell if it's from plucking the string too hard, not having my finger right on the fret, or from not pressing down hard enough with my left hand.

Any advice on how to minimize this and get the best sound out of the G-String?

well... try going easier on the frets and the string. If you hit the notes too hard, you can get some buzz in your pickups. Maybe, consider a thicker gauge. If it is just a treble twang... turn the highs down and lows up.
