Gerald Veasley Boot Camp

Sign in to disble this ad
Has anyone attended or have any information about Gerald Veasley's Boot Camp weekend in Reading, PA? I don't reallly know anything about Gerald Veasley, but I need a teacher bad. I play around an intermediate level but I haven't had lessons since I was a teenager. Nobody in my area offers any kind of lessons at the intermediate level. The boot camp is over a three day weekend and here is a list of the intructors.

Richard Bona
Brian Bromberg
Gary Willis
Adam Nitti
Anthony Wellington
Maurice Fitzgerald
Chris Farr
Richard Waller III

It costs $450 plus lodging for the weekend. It will probably end up costing me around $700 when all is said and done. Would my money be best spent elsewhere? Can I pick up a lot of info over one of these weekends? Any info would be helpfull. Here is a link to the website.

Sorry if this is in the wrong section, I also posted this thread under Bassists.

I don't know about the Boot Camp but you could take a whole bunch of lessons for $700...It's a bit of a drive from Leesburg, but it may be worth it to check out Anthony Wellington in Waldorf, MD for a few lessons. He gave me enough material in 6 lessons to keep me busy for a year. He's an excellent teacher and his prices are very reasonable. www.bassology.net

There are some seriously amazing players on the list of instructors, but 3 days ain't enough to absorb it all, my friend.

You might get to do some nice networking if you can play well, and learn a few things along the way. Other than that, I'd say you're paying for a $700 concert.

Just my two cents.

I think the camp would be awesome, but-IMO, you gain the most out of those type of camps when you are more advanced. On the site it says the cost for lodging plus the workshops & classes is $549.

I think it would be a great mind expanding weekend, but be prepared to have a lot of information presented.

I think it sounds quite enjoyable to be honest, but-i'm not sure if i'd go for it just yet. $549 is roughly 2 1/2 months worth of lessons for me. [1 lesson a week]

However, if you have the money and want to learn from some really killer cats-go for it and let us know how it was
