I know this has probably been beat to death. I'm a beginner - had a bass a few years back - lost interest. Not going to get back into it. This was my routine. I had my 'beginner' book and would just go from there. Is this a good practice? Or should I be trying to practice songs too? I would like to get better as quickly as possible - not just stumble along and not making the most of my time. Thanks

If you want to get better, read everything you can. Beginner books are great. Just make sure that you don't let your mind wander just because things are "simple".

In order to play music, you have to play the right note at the right time in the right manner. Think about perfection, not adequacy.
