I am beginning to learn the bass. I've been hearing the term, "ghosting". I am just wondering if someone would explain this concept to me. I am clueless!!

a "ghost" note is the same as a "dead" note. It's essentially a percussive tone that has no actual pitch. You play them by muting the string with your left hand, and plucking with your right. For great examples of dead notes, listen to Jaco Pastorius or Rocco Prestia of Tower Of Power. They both used ghost notes extensively in their fingerstyle funk performances.

Is a ghost note sometimes referred to as a grace note?

No. A grace note has an actual pitch- but it is supposed to be so fast that the composers don't bother giving it a time value.
