Give me songs to learn

Sign in to disble this ad
I have been playing bass for 4 years and have hardly learned any full songs from start to finish. Give me some manageable songs to learn, preferably in the funk/jazz/r&b genres. Give me some homework.

Cissy Strut by The Meters
Around the World by RHCP

There ya go!

If you can play either of those, you can jam and show off to your friends all the time!

I could fake my way through a lot of songs if I wanted. I don't know, I'm kind of a perfectionist. I don't like doing things unless they're "right" or perfect. It's not that I can't play. I just haven't really learned an entire song from start to finish. But let's not discuss this.

its not jazz, but you cant go wrong with blues rock man.

robert de leo of stone temple pilots is what i consider to be the epitome of traditional bass playing. sour girl is great. everything else is too.

our lady peace is like the canadian stp, but only their 2nd-4th albums. i think those are "clumsy," "happiness is not a fish...," and "spiritual machines." those are solid support basslines that i feel i really learned from.

i dont play like them at all now, but i think they are amazing learning tools. good blues rock tops the charts, no questions asked.

Good luck.

How about master of puppets by metallica. It's easy and it's jazz, a rare combination

If you want some easy first songs try

Island in the Sun by Weezer
Take it Easy by the Eagles
One Headlight by the Wallflowers
Cant Explain by the Who

not to hard from a technical standpoint so you can focus on learning the different parts and throwing them all together while still maintaining your time in between riffs
