Suppose it should, I wish there was somehow I could verify.

It is a good magazine at times, other times it really lacks, I got it as a favor to my cousin who was selling magazine subscriptions for his school. Everytime it comes in the mail i get all excited and then i read it and feel all "Meh"

Man B_B, I'd like to know too! I don't subscribe to anything anymore.

(BTW, does anyone remember the defunct Musician? Great mag. Miss it.)

For player interviews, instructions, tips, etc. Bass Musician Magazine is great.

And I seem to have heard of a certain other bass gear magazine...

Tom.
the british bass guitar magazine is about the best that i have found, with bassics being second, the articles are well written and i find that they are about things and players that i am interested in. i have about 160 bassplayer mags ( purchased most of them used, purchased for a fraction of the cover price, in other words about what they are worth ) and have found that their agenda is pretty transparent. i have always found that they spend too much time lauding certain players or subjects, whether deserved or not, while omitting other equally qualified players or subjects for no discernable reason. i will not name names but they have a group of players that everytime these guys go to the bathroom they get a feature in the magazine, but when you read the content in the article, you find it is just the same stuff that was printed in the last article or the article before that one. couple that with the attention that gets focused on the flavour of the month and you have generally a pretty dull and uninteresting read. for what it is worth i stopped buying the magazine about 3 years ago and though i stop by the local chapters for a quick perusal, i haven't found anything to change my mind. that being said i like the british mag much better, or i did until they stopped selling it domestically a few years back and it was only available through subscription sales. i refuse to subscribe to any magazine, always reserving the right of refusal for an issue that doesn't interest me. the magazine is available again every month but it is imported and i won't pay almost 11.00 for a magazine that is worth maybe 6 or 7, so now i purchase nothing and instead have developed a number of sites online where i can read about music and music topics and feel that i have lost nothing. a few examples

i just wish these were updated more frequently than they are

I too have a collection of links I peruse quite religiously, but what is truly appealing to me when it comes to magazines is the fact that I don't have to be sitting at my computer desk. I'm definitely going to check out Bassics, see if that one would be worth while.

Hey I asked for opinions right, so I guess its only fair. I'll probably check out a few issues of BP, see how I feel about it, and then decide from there.

that's what i would do. i would also try some local used bookstores to see if they have back copies used. i used to buy bass player magazine new in the 90's here and there, but a few years back someone sold their whole collection of about 100 magazines and i got everyone of them that i didn't have for between 1.50 and 4 dollars each. i also have some bassics and some bass guitar ( uk ) mags. if you're going to buy the bassics mags, make sure you buy the ones that have the cd with them ( i'm not sure if you can buy the mag without, but if you have a choice ). that was about the only thing that i found slightly negative about bassics, was that it seemed like the mag was liner notes for the cd and the interviews seemed truncated because of that. but i still liked the mag and got some great music from it ...
