Hey everyone, I'm New to these forums.
I have been playing bass on my own (Tabs, and friends showing me a few things) for about a year now.
I just started playing in one of my church's worship bands, So I have become familiar with a few of the basic notes.. But I was just wondering something.
I am in grade 11 right now, and have never taken band in high school, do you guys think it would help me alot if i took band in my seinor year, or would i be way too lost to be able to pull anything usefull out of it.

My next recommendation is to try out for the school jazz band (if you guys have one) or possibly the marching band. And yes, I have seen electric basses in marching bands.
But definitely talk to the director, they generally know what's up and will help you figure out how to get involved.

Yes my school does have a Jazz Band, so I'll talk to the Music department and see what they say. Even if they think I shouldnt take the class, I suppose they might be able to give some advice ^^ |

I've seen them stand on the sidelines while the rest of the band was marching. I played electric in our HS pep band, but I used my own eq. |

It was great, they let me in, even though it was the second course in the series, because of the low numbers. It wasn't too hard to jump into the theory in such a small class- everyone wanted to show off what they had learned. |

maybe i was just lucky in how quickly i picked up on it all but i think you should give it a shot. and if it doesnt work out, im sure some day you look back and laugh about how weird it was to not know what you know now...er..then..the future. you know what i mean.
o, and i just finished theory III last semester.

For football games the amps were on the sidelines. For parades they had battery powered amps on carts that they had someone push behind the band as we marched down the street.
