good songs to learn when starting out...

Does any one know some easy bass line that actually sound like somthing by themselves?

Well I'm a newbie- 9mos. player but I'm learning to listen to bass lines in my fav's. Then I try to learn them by tab/ ear.
Lots of good tabs to start with, American idiot, rainbow in the dark, hells bells, SRV- crossfire, hair of the dog, to name a few. Also I like to search for bass videos on youtube to learn techniques and song ideas. Man, I could watch Wooten every day.

I'm signing up for lessons this month, I was watching a local band and recognized the bass player from a shop near my place. It made me realize I reallly need some instruction in efficiency of movement on both hands. The right hand mainly with picking and silencing.

i have only been playin a year but by watching other peoples technique i have ecome better the anyone else in my school
