Hello TB im wondering if you can provide me with some songs that are technically impressive but not impossible to learn in a month and a half. I am open for all styles. I need to find a song to play for my audition in march.

Thanks in advance

"Technical" is a means to and end. Audition juries would rather hear something musical. They aren't impressed by that tricky ****

I like many songs and its a music academy thing. Im thinking autumn leaves or nativity in black (with opening solo) at the moment.

Tower of Power's "Only So Much Oil in the Ground" or "Credit"

and

Stevie Wonder's "Sir Duke"

are all fairly challenging.

Play a jazz standard through four times: play the head, walk over the changes, solo over the changes and play the head again. Don't worry about cops and technical stuff, as anyone can rehearse one song for hours on end until they can play it. Instead, focus on showing a grasp of jazz concepts and an ability to speak your own voice on the instrument.

Assuming, that is, that you're looking at a jazz program.

These threads make me want to die inside.

Charlie Parker head, walk the changes, blow over the changes, head out. If they let you get that far (meaning that they'll probably just stop you when you start the last head).
