Should be fun might just go in there and sit down and start shredding for 20 minutes, probably get me a distinction or something

Anyway, anyone else doing their grade 8 this year??

Sounds good. That must mean you already passed grade 6.

Hey guys, what's this Grade system? Is there anywhere I can read up on it? Which songs are which grade, etc? Sounds like an exciting system, that as far as I know, we don't have in my country.

Somehow I can't see that working.

I decided to actually buy the grade 8 book the other week, it's quite fun all in all. I'll probably enter in the period after summer so I get all the songs nailed completely.

It's (as far as I know) A UK based examination board called rockschool (although there are others, this is the most common) with grades ranging from 1-8. They do well for applying for teaching jobs around here at least. And just give you a bit of paper saying how good you are

Ohh I didn't know that it was only us in UK with the grading system, as someone said yeah it ranges from 1-8, it's a well-thought out system of advancing pieces/scales/exercises etc. but yeah it can be boring, I'd never had any bass lessons before starting my music college course, and my teacher put me into grade 8 straight away but I thought I might as well take the opportunity to get another piece of paper to add to the pile for any future CV's, the Rockschool system is also free to any of us students so why not! Did the exam earlier today and nailed it I hope, the pieces from the book tend to be pretty easy to average, here's some dude playing one of the pieces http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=ssARdM-5iFc

I also played a Bach invention for my free choice piece, was funnn
