For the transcribing - are you thinking specifically bass or other instruments as well? For bass, I would start with some of the James Brown stuff that Bootsy played on: "Get Up (I Feel Like Being A Sex Machine)", "Soul Power", "Give It Up Or Turnit A Loose" (the six minute remake) and "Talkin' Loud And Saying Nothing". For slap, Graham Central Station's "Pow" and "Hair". You might also want to check out some stuff like Pleasure ("Joyous" or "Glide") and The Crusaders ("Keep That Same Old Feeling"). |

Everybody knows where ONE is....hit it hard. Funk is heavily accented on the ONE....ie Sly Stone, James Brown, Bootsy. ||: BOOM laka laka laka :||...... see what I mean? Peace |

Also, as previously stated, pandora is a great way to get turned on to some new stuff. My "meters radio" has spawned endless hours of transcribing. Check out papa grows funk also, those guys kill it. |
