Don't know if I can post this here, but I'm not getting any financial gain out of it. I just want to share.
There's an amazing seminar called The Understanding of Music Seminar. It's coming to the Chicago, IL area March 7, 8 and 9th.
I took the seminar back when I didn't know ANYTHING about music. By the end of the seminar I played a short piece of Bach on the keyboard READING the music, and with both hands. I had never played the piano/keyboard before.
It really gave me a solid understanding of music, reading music, scales, the different modes, the history of music (important, I didn't think it was but now that I know it many things make sense) and a bit on writing music and what makes a song good.
Musicians of ALL levels can attend, even the seasoned veterans got a LOT out of it. I also went to his songwriting seminar in Boston, I can now write music--and I swear I had never played an instrument before!
You won't come out of the seminar a musical expert, but you'll definitely be there shortly if you keep up on the practices he gives. The guy's name is Duncan Lorien and he travels all over the world giving these seminars.
PM me if you want more info. Anyone who wants to learn how to read music could use this seminar, or anyone who feels stuck with music. It's funny, but in every class he has someone who never read music before challenge someone who can read music to see who can read the notes the fastest and the person who never read music before ALWAYS wins using his method. LOL!
Here is his site.
