I own it. I think it is a great video. It's not Victor just wankering away.

It made me think about many things in my playing that I wasn't.

Good, I was looking for a non-wanking type vid like everything else....more into feel and timing.

If you're serious about getting better you should own this. (Also read THE MUSIC LESSON by Vic too). It's by far the best piece of material out there for bassists on becoming better musicians.

Be interested if anyone has found anything comparable - whether bass related or otherwise.

I owe and enjoy vic video. It tells you mcuh about a differnt approach to music and exposes aspect of bass playing that we probably all did (or should do) but that are not always rationalized or consciously digested.

I still need to practice a lot of things he goes through, especially I'm working on timing with the Anthony exercise and neing able to visualize it , it's nice. Not a super new technique, but I recognise how useful it is now.

I like Vic's approach in the video, but I wonder whether I'd be able to follow it without some music experience/education.

I think it's a nice DVD that would help those who are into "taking the next step" , I would reccommend the purchase

Yes, great video from Victor. If you are looking for a detail explanation of his slapping technique this is not the video for you. This video is exactly what he called it....Groove Workshop!

He does explain how he does it in the Q&A at the end...although I haven't bothered to learn so I don't know if the explanation was that good.

Overall a great video, its all the topics from the book but with practical examples and exercises instead of life lessons.

it's awesome, my mom gave it to me for christmas and i've only seen the first disc so far but it's great.

i have the book too, i definitely like the dvd more. it's not that the book is bad but it's such a roundabout way of explaining stuff.

and that moving 16th note excercise that anthony does makes me feel like an absolute moron everytime.

The DVD changed my whole outlook on music. I look forward to reading The Music Lesson next.

"2 through 10"...I have always gone on & on that 'the notes' are almost secondary.
...and whoever has heard me say that usually laughs.

Wooten's example of playing a solo using the 5 non-Gm scale tones was very cool.

Another example I liked--
Wooten asks one of the student-players to play a groove...and then play the same groove (more or less) while keeping a drum beat going in his head. Big difference.

Finally got the dvd. Two thumbs up. Gives plenty of insight to timing, the pocket...not always being so technical etc etc. I definitely recommend it for the feel/groove oriented bass player.
