Groovy Bass Players?

Hey guys. Im trying to find bass players who are Groovy but simple. Im thinking something like James Jamerson. Now Jamerson is a god but if you can give me bass players who play interesting lines but are more focused on the song rather than their skills. Im not looking for another Jaco or Victor Wooten but simple bass lines that are cool. I hope I am explaining what Im looking for correctly. Thanks

Duck Dunn, Jerry Jemmot, Chuck Rainey, Willie Weeks to name a few. And I'm not so sure I'd call Jamerson's lines simple IMHO.

George Porter Jr. is the man!
Great P sound, his grooves are technically simple but very interesting in rhythm patterns.
Listen to the Meters (everything!), and to "Desitively Bonnaroo" by Dr. John.

Ahc: I agree with your comment about jamerson. When I usually ask people who some good bass players are they list off people who are very "Flashy' like jaco, victor wooten ect... Bass that stands out in the mix so to say

Ahhh grasshopper, see post #5. Two before yours

bskts247: If I understood you correctly, I think the players mentioned in this thread DO stand out in the mix. And not just from "flash". Couple more to add: Bob Babbitt, Carol Kaye, Joe Osborne, Otiel Burbridge, Roscoe Beck, Gordon Edwards, Francis Rocco Prestia, Carl Radle.

Guys!? What's wrong with you -- Chuck Rainey.

I stand -- or really sit -- corrected: AHC mentioned him

Which albums were that? I thought Pops took over from Buster Williams when they went electric

Found it The 2nd Crusade if the iTunes review is correct. It seems Adams was first followed by Chuck Rainy and then Felder

Forgot about Paul Jackson, Paul Denman and Nathan Watts. Also, I would say that Marcus Miller can be groovy but simple in the right situation, but some might disagree.

Pops was in the bass chair on some albums alright. Albums that I know of that feature Felder on bass ( he may not play on every track) would be :

Unsung Heroes : Southern Comfort : Crusaders 1 : Crusaders 2

+5021822 for Bootsy!

Verdine White, maybe? I honestly think Tim Commerford is pretty groovy
