Guitar pro 6 question

Sign in to disble this ad
Guys sorry if this is in the wrong section. I recently downloaded guitar pro 6 to help me have something to play along with adbIm learning new songs. Bad thing is I can't figure out how to use the thing lol, can anyone offer a short tutorial on how to just put songs into it that I could then play along with. I don't want to do anything else at this time but that, any help would be appreciated otherwise this was just a big waste of my time and money lol.

You can't really 'put songs' into GP or open song files with it, not in the conventional mp3/wma/wav song sense, at least. GP can be used to open Guitar Pro files (as well as some other kind of files which can be read as sheet music/tabs, e.g. MIDI and Power Tab files). You can play back these 'tab' files as songs. So GP basically allows you to write music and play it back and save it as a playable tab file. 911tabs.com provides a nice compilation of GP files from sites all across the internet.

Champ, that is what I meant I wanted to do lol. How do you get the tabs to the GP to be able to use, or the sheet music?

Download a GP tab file from a site. Open the file using GP. You'll be able to see the tabs and play the file. An example:

Run To You Guitar Pro Tab by Bryan Adams @ Ultimate-Guitar.Com

Save the .gp4 file you find here and open it with GP.

I also bought GP6 and have pretty much found every song I wanted in gpx format by just doing a search for the title of the song plus guitar pro tab. Like was said, 911tabs has alot of good ones. It has become a really valuable tool in my arsenal. I usually have to learn cover songs quickly in my band and this helps immensely.

Power tabs work with GP as well. See if you can get a PowerTab file for it (though it's likely you won't find a ptb file for a song you didn't find the GP file for).
