You can get a cheaper one that'll work fine. It's one of those rare cases, where the instrument is inherently so physically hard to play--even a really nice one---that learning on a cheaper instrument might actually HELP

I get around pretty well on it if I practice--if I lay off for a while it takes some serious "warming up" to get back in the zone with the intonation, etc. But man, when you see a really good player it looks so effortless and fluid, and sounds solid and consistent. I want to achieve that myself one day.
