I went to B.Dalton and immediately went to the music section, in hopes of finding something about theory, as that's what I'm trying to learn most, currently. Sadly out of the many guitar and piano books, only one was about bass..."Bass Guitar for Dummies." Having enough money, I bought it (impulsively). After about 2 hours about reading about scales, theory, chords, and styles, I can say that that was the best 25 dollars I spent. I took my new found knowledge on creating a groove, which is what I, sadly, lacked, and made my first good groove/tune/lick IMO. I feel so proud, I'm officially a bassist in a sense, lol. Also, a song that my guitarist made up a year ago, apparently, he told me the chords and I just made up a really, REALLY simple bassline of it. A month later it hits me that with a tiny rhythm adjustment (like maybe 1 or 2 eighth-rests) it ends up being the intro to crazy train, which I found somewhat funny. But this thread is to pat myself on the back (it raises my self-esteem )
for creating my first satisfactory groove, that will one day evolve into a beautiful song, like a caterpillar metamorphoses into a butterfly... Now ironically, my fingers are getting tired, so I'll stop now, also I have to thank all of you on the forums, because alot of you gave me alot of advice that came in handy, too. Thanks!

Yeah, it really is a good book. I put off even looking at it because of the name, but I checked it out based on a recommendation. It really helped cement the stuff I've picked about scales and that chapter alone was worth the cover price to me.

I bought it impulsively as well. Honestly, I was hoping for a bit more. I found the bass player book, by BP Magazine more helpful.
