Have any of you ever taken "Online" courses?

Just as the title says. Have you taken an online course for music? If so what were your experiences?

Looking to get general instruction in bass, especially reading/writing etc.

Thoughts?

God Bless, Ray

I have not, but have considered it. I hear MusicDojo is an excellent one for electric bass and other instruments.

Berklee College of Music offers online courses. You can get a bass specialist certificate all online. This includes 9 credits, 3 each of Rock Bass, Jazz Bass, and Bass Performance 101. They also have management and other degrees. IIRC you can get a full Master's in some majors. Check their site for more info. www.berklee.edu

I have done a couple of months of workshoplive.com, but that isn't like say a course on music theory from a place like Berklee. I got what I wanted out of it, and would do it or another like musicdojo.com again if I thought it would give what I wanted.

I also did streaming video lessons with a monster player in NYC for a year, which was totally amazing. He sent me the file of the lesson via a heavy file vendor, and I have them burned to dvd for repeated viewing. No cheap though.

I would say after looking into Berklee's online offerings, they are outrageously expensive, though no doubt very well done. I have not looking into another university level online course to compare in fairness.

I need one on one so I can be corrected if my form is wrong.

I've been using www.studybass.com as a reference and learning songs on youtube but those face to face lessons are really great. I think online lessons can't hurt but maybe just use as an addition to private one on one lessons.

There are beginner electric bass, beginner double bass, and 6-string bass chords

I took face to face lessons with Adam Nitti. After he moved away and got www.musicdojo.com up and running I took lessons from him there. It's a great site. You get all the lessons to download, sound clips with sheet music, video conferencing, and IM with the instructor. It's pretty cool.
