Which is healthier? (To GAS or not)

I hope this makes sense

If a bass player has GAS, and he has the money, which would benefit him more, succumbing to GAS or training himself to get over it?

Assume the GAS is for something not crucial.

GAS is a very nasty thing to have, but...... if you have the money to spend why not spend it? You cant take it with you.

If you don't need the money for bills or anything, then there's really no reason not to spend it if it's something you've been really wanting for a while. I don't see a reason to just leave it sitting around if there's no reason to.

Life's too short not to have fun.

I had some serious gas... but then I found the basses that met all my needs and the amp that met all my needs so the GAS went away. Now I really don't have any, unless there is a sweet trade out there

Seriously, if you enjoy it and have the extra cash, why not treat yourself to something great. Just remember expensive does not necessarily equal quality and a great bass may inspire you, but won't really make you anything more than you are now.

as the saying goes.... If you aren't enough without it, you'll never be enough with it.

But if someone starts spending his hard earned money on GAS, will it ever stop?

It looks like an unending fun cycle though.

Discipline is a good skill to learn. Learning to not worry about money is good skill as well. I would say if what you want to buy is something you really really want then go for it. If it's just a frivolous purchase because you have the extra cash then you may want to hold off.

Discipline yourself. You never know what unexpected financial woes may pop up.
