Anyone know the song "Shape I'm in" by Jo Jo Zep and the Falcons?
I'm auditioning with a band this Friday and this is one of the pieces I am preparing, by ear for a change. I'm trying to get as close to the original song.
I spent a day and a half over the weekend just listening to the song before hitting the bass. I have it pretty well ingrained in memory, but I can't seem to work out the key/scale because of my theory weakness and my unfamiliarity with that genre and instrumentation. Seems I know when Im wrong, but not always when I'm right, if that makes sense. The song doesn't even seem that hard to play just listening to it, but playing it last night I was struggling to hit the right notes most of the time, which was a bit demoralising.
Could anyone give me a hint on the key and perhaps a scale or some other theory hints that might help me lock it down?
Thanks guys.
