Help with Theory...

Sign in to disble this ad
I was learning songs from a guitarist/composer that claims he did the bass and drums on the recordings.

I spent two weeks learning the songs by listening to the recordings and when I played with them last weekend the rhythm guitarist/drummer and I sounded fine and the composer sounded out of tune on most of the songs. On one particular song I really liked the bass part from the recording is..

GBC D Fsharp D then CG CG...

He sent me an email apologizing for not being clear about what he was doing and said..and when I sent him the notes what I was playing he sent this.

Quote:
the song is a step up on the recording if that is what you are playing to, i was giving you the actual notes we were playing in at the jam
this is the notes he sent...

GDC then ABCE GBC EGC

Can someone explain this to me?

to me looks like these are the roots of the chords
written in key of G major = G A B C D E F# = 1234567
G D C = 1 5 4
A B C E = 2 3 4 5
G B C = 1 3 4
E G C = 6 1 4
I can't help on the timing, stick to the roots at first, add some 5 ths and octaves

hope this helps
Peace
Paul
