Hey whattup all bassists!

I've been playing bass for over 20 years as a session guy and teacher and I am developing a product on how to play bass.

I wanted to get your feedback and know what your top 10 questions are?

Thanks and keep rockin

I don't think I understand. Can you clearify a little? What sort of product are you making? Can you specify as to what these top 10 questions should pertain to?

I don't mean to be snarky, but wouldn't coming up with the ideas kind of be your primary role in creating the product?

Soloing over changes would be a good lesson.

The product will primarily be a dvd with access to membership area via a website. After teaching all these years I have taught many different techniques on bass, however, I wanted to get feedback from other bassist on this forum as to what they would like to learn if they were starting out fresh. Product would be geared towards newbies.

Thanks

How about laying out parts of your plan and letting us comment on it? You don't have to show all just a outline of SOME parts.

Just a thought.

I think the most critical newbie question is "I know X, but how do I use it?"

"I know my scales, how do I use them to groove?"
"I know my arpeggios, but when I play along with chords, it sounds like...well, arpeggios..."

Most instructional material seems to be one of two things: A bunch of "how to play this riff" examples without any discussion of underlying theory /style,
or a bunch of theory without any discussion of how to usefully apply it.

I think An ideal instructional tool would bridge the gap: every scale or arpeggio would be accompanied by examples of application in various styles; or every riff would be accompanied by a breakdown of the theory underneath.

And if you really want to sell a lot, be sure the name of it implies that it reveals "secrets" or "tricks" of the pros

Hey thanks man..very helpful!!! I appreciate your feedback and you're right, as a newbie, everything you learn to play on bass poses that question..."OK yeah so I learned this riff or technique..now what?"

!!

Number one best seller.

How to play bass guitar using fake chord sheet music.

Learn how to play songs right from the start. Book and backing track on 25 classic Pop, Rock & Country songs - use public domain whatever, but, get them playing to some songs right from the start.

Start with roots only. Then R-5, then R-5-8-5 and work quickly to laying down a groove for each song. Nothing fancy, just basic , here is how you could do this. Heavy on the how you could do this.

Good luck with the project.
