It will get easier the more expierence that you get and playing with other people will bring you around by leaps and bounds.
How long have you been Playing?
What helped me the most is Leanring songs all the way through, learning where all of your notes are on the E and A strings from the 1st to the 7th Frets.
I just recently learned my minor and major scales which has helped me to be able to spice up and improvise much better than just learning a song note for note.
I am in 2 Classic Rock Cover bands right now and we have done a few local Gigs and we are getting better from just getting out there and playing.
My first Band I was so nervous for the 2 parties that we played before we broke up,we werent very good but They gave me chance to get in and learn.
SORE FINGERS! Great Name I remember that oh so well.
Steve

Well you sound like you may be at an age where being horrible is OK, so I wouldn't sweat it

Hey, everyone bombs out a time or two until they get some experience. I had gigs when I first started playing where I thought I was going to get beaten up, we were so bad. Today I play bass for a living. Just have fun with it and work at it and keep jamming with other musicians of all skill levels as much as possible, and learn from the good ones.
