How to change the action of my bass

Quite simply, I don't know how to do it. For Christmas last year I got an Ibanez bass starter kit, and while its definitely not a great bass, it gets the certainly gets the job done. I was just wondering how to change the action because, if I understand correctly, that can change the sound that the guitar produces, as the tone knob isn't too flexable with its sound.

You can scream at it until it plays and sounds exactly the way you want it to.

Or take it to a professional technician for a pro setup. I'd do that.

If you know someone capable.. or think you can do it. You can take a little of the bend out of the truss rod and lower the saddles on the bridge. But watch out with going too far and getting buzz.

Here's an awesome article o found on guitar centers website that explains exactly how to adjust a music man bass. you might want to find the suggested specs for your instrument, but this will at least take all the mystery out of setup. I setup my sterling using this guide and it sounds and plays great. im personally not a fan of "eye sighting" neck relief, i use a feeler gauge (same thing you use to measure spark plug gaps for a car) to verify mine to .010. with the right tools theres no reason to eyeball it, that said im no expert so i could be wrong.
