How Do You Monitor Yourself While Practicing?
This poll is just to figure out which you prefer in a practice setting in your room by yourself playing with a drum machine, metronome, or perhaps a song on your ipod or computer.
Lot of threads on here about how TO practice and what headphones to use, but I want to see how we prefer to hear ourselves in a personal practice setting. Out of necessity I have to use headphones in my apartment, especially since I'm on the top floor. It's not a bad thing, I feel like I can hear my mistakes and goof-ups a lot easier this way. Sure it doesn't sound as awesome as just rocking out my 2x15's, but if it can sharpen my skills as a player, I can save the macho dB's for gigs. All in all, I think I prefer the benefits I get from using headphones to practice over an open-air practice. At a gig, I much prefer to be out in the open and not using OEM or IEM.
