Just curious as to how long you practice.

I try to aim for 3 hours a day.

My band rehearses twice a week. So I guess that means 3 hours on Tuesday, and 3 hours on Thursday.

What time period does the poll reference? Is that hours per day, per week, per year...?

Generally one to two hours a day, but it's broken up into many 5 minute segments. I've got ADHD, and as a rule anything longer than, say, 15 minutes and I start to lose interest. So I try to keep it short and sweet!

Not necessarily every day... Maybe about 12 hours a week not counting rehearsals.

The question is vague. How long do I practice just by myself, or how long does my band practice? Per day? Per week? Per year? I really don't "practice" bass anymore in the sense of drills & exercises (in that sense, I practice guitar a lot more than bass). I play bass when I'm working on something of my own or trying to get someone else's line down, or when I'm at band practice, probably 10-12 hours per week.

I practice DB and BG for 3 hours, then vocals and piano for 1 and then I play with my drummer for at least two hours, so about 6 almost every day.

+1. And you can tell.

Well, at least you fellow TBers could tell. I was at an open mic last week where one lady in the coffee shop told me she thought I had been playing all my life. It's only been a bit over two years.

30 minutes to 1 hour a day on upright.

and then I generaly play electric all the time. I have one in every room of the house, so when ever I am sitting down I pick it up.

There are some days when I play for 5 hours and some days when I don't play at all (I know that's not good)

Right now I'm at the tail end of crunch time with a new band so in the past two months I've easily logged an average of 20 hours a week. I wish I could be that motivated when it comes to my lessons though...I'd be much better.

I have to say 2-3 hours, because that includes 1-2 hours. I alternate between practicing guitar and bass. I may go for a few nights for a few hours doing either one or both. I mix it up. And on weekends that I have all the time in the world, all bets are off and I'll go all afternoon and evening mixing it up.

Does it matter if it's rehearsing with the band or alone? I play 30 min - 1 hour by myself each day, but 3-4 with the rest of the band, from 3-5 days a week.
