Why do you teach that on a 5 strings bass strung E to C ????

There are not that many players using this set-up !

I know... it'd be simpler to teach on a four string but i only have one bass and if i take the c string off every time i do a lesson it'd end up snapping at the peg end. Anyhow, these tutorials are just to demonstrate the concepts so are transferable to any instrument.

take it easy,

Scott.

Ok I see your point but I would suggest when you demonstrate the exercice do it without the C string and then on applying the concept further use it.

Just my opinion,

Good work

Players use 6 string basses though.

yes it is true. But for beginners it might throw them off to see the example on a 5 strings like that imo.

Yes but a vast majority of players are still using 4 strings bass and to me the fingerings and positions on the videos won't make sense to them. Just my opinion that's all!

Just like to add a "+1" to the suggestions that a four string would be more suitable.

Perhaps you could borrow one for the purpose of the lessons.

Otherwise, they are very good, and well presented.

Hey guys just a quick reply to all the four stringers out there... Next time i do a tutorial concerning fingerings etc i'll make sure not to mention the C string and just keep it E to G just to escape any confusion for ya.

On another note, thanks for checking the vids out!

Take it easy,

Scott.

Just another quicky...
I've had some emails concerning the downloadable PDF i promised which isn't posted up there yet. It will be up there by Monday, i've just got a crazy schedule at the moment so it's tough fitting it all in. That'll have some good examples of the continuous arpeggio exercises and will be written out for 4 string.

Thanks for checking the tutorials out.

Take it easy,

Scott.

I can't thank you enough Scott for this particular lesson on Arpeggio's.

I've gotten my mind twisted up into a pretzel on what fundamental concepts that i should spend time on.

Although having the ability to create, and stay in a deep 'pocket' is paramount, note selection, with these arpeggio's, is a close second for me, as they give off an immediate vocabulary which isn't scalish sounding.

Thanks again for being a man of your word!
