How do I properly clean beaten my pickups, underneath the strings. They collect a lot of dust.

My bass resembles this one.

Awww, alphamale, sportin the good ole ibanez? Those things are damn skinnier than my Washubrn ....makes my bass feel like its a fattie or something

anyways...get any cloth that is "Microfiber"....but if ur really not sure, just go to a music store and get a decent cloth (it should look fuzzy...and well...it just looks like it would clean well )

and, uhm well, to clean the pickups...u just have to dig down there and dust them out. I don't know if there's anything special that one could possibly do

For cleaning underneath my strings, and the fretboard, I use a separate cloth, and work it underneath the strings and use a back-and-forth motion to clean the underside of the strings, and the top of the fretboard.

as a digression, I highly suggest buying some "GHS Fast Fret"

You'll wonder how you got by without it

Washburn? Nice, I've yet to see a Washburn that wasn't well made and affordable.
- Weird coincidence I was considering getting that. And now that you've told me this I'm really going to buy it. How often do you need to buy a new GHS Fast Fret?
And are you supported to wash Microfiber clothes and if so how?

well, according to the packaging on my martin cleaning cloth, it says that it's machine washable...I've yet to do this myself, since I have so many cloths (that i rotate) that it's never gotten that dirty yet.

and for GHS Fast Fret, Your mileage will vary. When I ordered mine, it appeared to have fallen out of its packaging while in transit (Darn you musiciansfriend.com ) So I will probably be getting a new one soon. My impression though, of the product, is that it will last a long while. The way it's made, it appears the string lubricant/cleaner does not dry out very easily.

To use Fast Fret, you press firmly on your strings, supposedly to "Squeeze out the Juice"

best 5 dollars I ever spent! Don't get over zealous with it, or you will find that your strings will be very slippery

Nice! And I shop at Musicians friend too! But I must buy this stuff in person because free shipping is for orders over 99 dollars =\ so yeah I'll have to go in person. Thanks for reaffirming me on getting the Fast Fret.
(Do you mind if I add your myspace account?)

Fast Fret is great stuff. I use it for my strings, fingerboard, and the back of the neck. Needless to say, I go through it faster than most people.
