How to structure my playing time

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi to everyone again!

I am trying to improve my bass playing and I've found and some basic exercise for playing technique (for right and left hand speed, accuracy, permutations etc.) I would like to improve my overall playing abilities and I was wondering how to structure my playing time in most efficient way (I would be able to play 2-3 hour per day). Therefore I have a couple of questions on that issue:

- Do I have to pay more attention on those exercises than to trying to play bass lines of other bass players?
- Do I have to play more bass lines and to do less exercises?
- What ratio between those two parts would be the most efficient?
- How do I have to do exercises: as the very first thing of the daily playing? as the last one? in the middle or all over during my playing time? for how long should I do them, for 5,10,20...2000 minutes?
- Is it better to combine more types of exercises in the same playing session (I mean in daily playing) or to do for example in one day exercises for speed and in second day for accuracy?
- When I do one exercise, for example for the left hand speed, do I have to practice it all over again in one key until I get solid and good result in that key, and only then to start to do the same exercise in all other keys, OR it's better to do it right away in all keys, no matter how good the result is in the start?

From all of those questions it's easy to understand that I learned to play unfortunately by myself and that I have a lot of gaps to fill in my playing and to learn something (a lot) for the scratch.

Thank you very much for your help and time!!!
superdeka
