Howard Goodall continues to explain music

Hi all, if you are a UK based musician you will be familier with Howard Goodalls work as a composer and presenter.
His series on "How music works" often gets mentioned on TB, (but he has produced a number of great programmes and series on many aspects of music development) and he has done it again with, The Story Of Music now currently on Saturday nights, BBC2 9.00.
A music programme or this calibre on maintime mainstream TV shows it will interst many on different levels

This time he takes us on a Journey of musical development, how we came to be where we are now from all that went before.
How and why notation became essental to music, how melody and harmony were discovered and used, how rhythm became part of music.
He even points out that there were times within the last thousand years when people could go months and never hear music...of any sort.
His explanations of how music, musical ideas, the development of them, the instruments needed to create new music, how they interact and work is great viewing and very informative to add to anyones deeper understanding of why musical instruction and learning is more than just an instrument.

Those with access to the BBC iplayer will find it under the music section, or look under the BBC2 channel
