I was wondering if there was something I could do, to help my picking hand when playing "Hey, man nice shot."

It seems to cramp after a awhile. I can do it without my fingers, but the band likes it better picked.

This song is a pain when it comes to endurance.

howzabout a thumbpick......i used to know a guy who used one and he did not have to expend much energy holding on to it....downside....hard to transition to slap

less wrist and fingers, more elbow, and don't bitch about getting worn out in front of whoever has to sing it!

Take a deep breath, relax, and barely pick the strings. Turn your amp UP to the point that you barely need to play to be where u need to be in the mix. Strain ALWAYS equals playing too hard. Perhaps your gear has a hard time keeping up with your guitar players rig? Perhaps, it is is to the point you need to pick really hard just to hear yourself? Try to work on minimizing your picking motion as much as possible. Less motion is more, the more finesse, the better.

wow, what a great thread! whoever wrote that is a genius!

but seriously, you could play that song all night long if you do what carol kaye recommends. with all respect to the other posters, a thumbpick will still require you to hold it onto your thumb, which puts you back to square one. and the quickest way to arm injuries is to pick from the elbow and it still won't stop your hand from hurting. faulkner kind of has the right idea, but the carol kaye thing takes it up a few notches.
