i have a bass solo, help!!

Any advice for building solos? its only 4 beats long, but there are two of em in the same song, any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

4 beats? That's not a solo - that's a lick!

Sing something that you think would fit well in that bar (I'm assuming it is 4/4 time). Then play what you sang.

+1 To avoid sounding like a rookie don't play on One to start a phrase and only play the root if a passing tone. And as Victor Wooten say don't lose the groove in order to find a note.

do a nice 8th note run, they always seem kool. maybe even a sweep? do what you think grooves
