OK, last night my hommie got ahold of me, he is getting back together his band to open for E-Town this March, he said "told me" he whants me as his bassist, i was overly thrilled and touched that he would want me for this band and for a very importent first show....but heres the thing, he knows this i told him that ive barley touched a bass in my life "litterily" and he said thats fine,i was like "omg he still wants me he must be high!" but then i thought he dosnt do drugs and he's not stupid...i told him if i dont show improvement in the first couple weeks he is to boot me and find someone more skilled in the art cuz im not about to hold him and the other band mates back from there life and dream.
so,this is my predicament, i have absolutly no gear at all, im so low on cash i gotta sell my tunr tables and mixing bored for hopefully enough to get a bass, and above all ells as Josh put it to me "we all have to get our muzic down eargazmicley by febuary" so i have like 3-4 months to learn all this. and im now thinking , zomg what the hell did i do?, but this is a dream of mine, ive alwasy wanted to play bass and always wanted to be in a band, and i wanted to know from the people who know about bass playing, if a practice my but off for the next 3-4 months, im talkin no less then 4 hours a day, would it be possible to do this? oh and i have to learn to play the bass in a fast manner cuz its a screamo deathgrind band.
Also if any of you know of any really really great super awesome bass lesson videos/dvds plz plz plz plz send them my way!
P.S. i really do want this, this is one oppertunity i refuse to pass up, it is a dream ive had since i was 11 but ive never gotten a bass.... |

get a teacher, sit and learn the material with a "pro"... craming this on your own may invite injury and overall bad habits!
you can do anything you put your mind to! HURRY UP!

Many TBrs use these as their gigging bass. You can probably find a use able combo for well under $300. For blackdeathgrindmetalnoisecore you will probably want a 2x10 or 4x10 rather than a 1x15 cabinet.
get lessons, let your teacher know what you are aiming for, make sure you have solid guidance for good technique. Otherwise, If you are hell bent to shred ASAP you might end up starting some harmful habits for the long run.
Don't focus on speed: get a metronome, focus on playing accurately with a steady volume, slowly, and speed up gradually. |

Except to play steady 8th notes for 3 hours nonstop at 90bpm. Get a professional teacher. Get your hands on a decent bass, worry less about amplification for now (You can be amplified through DI to PA and while you practice, you can use something cheap).
Sounds like a troll, but if not, good luck!
