I need someone to explain scale modes to me

Sign in to disble this ad
Ive only had three half hour bass lessons in my whole time of playing bass ( almost a year) and I was taught fretboard notation and technique. I know the basic ionian scale, the lydian scale and thats about it. I would like to know all the different scales and modes they are played in, but I quite frankly find most of the stuff on the internet confusing. If an experienced player could take a little time out to explain these to me, I would greatly greatly appreciate it, as I really want to learn all of this stuff but just need to be shown this.
Thanks guys!

Try a search first, or visit the sticky instruction threads above. This has been talked about a lot. Then ask about anything specific you can't find or don't understand.

I find it rather unusual that you're learning the modes first. Learn the Major and Minor scale patterns first, then start going over the modes. Modes are just the major scale, only starting on a different note in the scale.

Read this article: --> Introduction to Scale and Chord Theory

If you have any specific questions ask them once you've read this article.

The info in the above lesson should get you started.
