I noticed how fun and cool it is to play funk, but i have a problem. Iīm not that good on slapping and when i play fingerwalking - funk, it always becomes a slow and groovy funk, not the fast and energetic funk.
The way i play now makes me think a little about some slow Bootsy Collins funk, and the sound i want is if you think like early red hot chili peppers or something like that.
I allways try to listen to them and jam along, but it doesnīt come out the way i want to
got any advices? |

Bootsy's are usually pretty quick and heavily syncopated, which is tough to learn on the fly. I generally subscribe to the "less is more" philosophy when it comes to funk- keep it simple, use rests frequently, and syncopate to flavor (at least for my own funk lines). |

If you want to try a more pop/funk sort of sound listen to the Brand New Heavies. Nothing too complex but great groove. |

| | | I think Richard Finch (Kc & Sunshine Band) is a great example of how a simple bass line can pump the funk out of a song. Nothing fancy , nothing too fast, but tasty booty inflating funk! |

Include the Meters, and you have the Funk Foundation!
