If I'm transcribing a mile solo, should it be transcribed in treble clef?

Whoops on the typo. I meant Miles as in Miles Davis.

Or any non-bass instrument for that matter.

the thing is, I obviously plan to play it back on my bass.

My jazz teacher at school says it's ok, I'm still thinking about it. Really it shouldn't matter, except that I'm prolly gonna be transcribing it an octave lower than it actually is.

thoughts?

It doesn't matter, whatever you're more comfortable reading. The only reason I'd use treble clef is if I specifically wanted to work on reading or writing in treble.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. I can play treble clef, just not on bass (makes sense I think),

It will keep in out of the "telephone-poles" if its in a high register.
