hi, i just got a bass for christmas and i'm gonna start having lessons in january but i wanted to work out some chords and that kinda stuff now so i can just mess around and stuff. just it's really out of tune and we have a piano so i was trying to tune it but i'm not sure which octave to tune it too. it sounds really dumb but ye, what octave do you tune it to? as in like the bottom one on a piano or the next one up or the second one up, like that. thanks.

The low E string should be tuned to the piano's lowest E and you work from there in 4ths. Out of curiosity, what's your piano's lowest note?
