I'm going to be taking my Bass Grade 5 exam in a few months and I have to do a improvising section in the key of F#. I can't to make sound right as it would when using the pentatonic. On the spot I find it hard, but the notes i can only come out with are somthing like A C C# E B A F# and so on which don;t sound very good. Any ideas? All responses welcome.

F# blues scale should be F# A B C C# E (1 b3 4 #4 5 b7)

finding licks from this scale that sound 'bluesy' can take some experimenting, but there are plenty of resources. Marlowedk has a nice video on youtube on exactly this subject.
